My Approach to Therapy
Whether you are looking for support and coping skills for handling tough situations, are struggling with developing and maintaining healthy relationships, or are suffering from anxiety and depression, I can offer you a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment from which to explore your inner world, while giving you techniques for coping and growth along the way.

I believe that in order to make therapeutic gains, a warm, empathic relationship must be established, whereby individuals feel free to express their feelings, and are accepted and understood for who they are.  I firmly believe that this therapeutic environment creates the energy for healing and self-actualization (becoming your optimal you).  This is my foundation for successful therapy.

I have a person-centered style.  This approach assumes all individuals have the innate, natural motivation toward personal growth, and a capacity for self-direction.

Through examination of your past experiences and present thoughts and feelings, new insights can be developed that will allow you to live with a greater sense of understanding and intention.  As part of my practice I teach Mindfulness Techniques, to assist in this endeavor.

I incorporate concepts of Cognitive Therapy into my practice, because if you can change the way you think, you can change the way you feel.

And I am inspired by the field of Interpersonal Neurobiology, which (among other things) connects the latest neuroscience research with psychology. With better technology we've been able to confirm that therapy does in fact change the brain and that it is never too late to grow and develop.

My approach to therapy is Integrative and comprehensive.  Interventions are unique to your needs.  Since no two people are the same, my approach varies from client to client; however, I maintain a holistic position, as our minds, bodies and spirits must all be nurtured  in order to sustain deep and meaningful growth.

"We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves" ~ Dalai Lama
